What is a No Fee card?
With so many offers on the market these days, most providers offer a no fee credit card that will not charge you an annual fee. It also used to be possible to get a balance transfer no fee credit card, but lenders have now started implementing a small transfer fee for the privilege of the interest free period.
What should I consider when choosing a No Fee card?
- Are they recouping the fee elsewhere? E.g. in the interest rate.
- Will you be charged more for defaulting on payment or going over your limit?
- Is there an interest free balance transfer period and what is the fee? (They’re usually about 2-2.5%)
- Will you receive a 0% interest period on purchases or is that forsaken for the no annual fee?
